Ignoring the Romanian law, which obliges city halls to respect minimum standards with their killing pounds, Slatina’s Mayor prefers to keep the dogs in places like this before they are killed. He has constantly refused any collaboration with NGO’s like Vier Pfoten and Prieteni Nostri, which have proposed several time neuter and release programs but in vain. These are the shameful pictures taken by Gratiela Ristea in spring 2008: dogs starving, sick or dead puppies, no shelters and mud everywhere.
