ELVIS, FROM COSTANZA TO THE NETHERLANDS

’ ’ elvis-1.jpg’ elvis-2.jpg

It’s not usual, in Romania, that people who pass him by with their car rescue a stray dog. Finding injured, dead or dying stray dogs on the street is normal and motorists are practically used to this. But stories like that of Elvis are the confirmation that there is always someone ready to deny the clichés. Elvis, in fact, has been found by a Rumanian couple in a petrol station near Costanza. He had a bad injure at one posterior leg because it was run over by a car. Even if they didn’t have the possibility of keeping Elvis with them, the two people rescued him and brought him in a clinic in their city, assuring him the appropriate treatments. Then, they searched the Internet and contacted via email the President of STD, Sara Turetta, asking for help. Even if our shelters were overcrowded, we submitted the case of Elvis to our Dutch partners of Dogs Adoptions NL. Since the puppy was already vaccinated, it took only two weeks to arrange the transfer in The Netherlands, together with other lucky Rumanian puppies. Below: Elvis goes for a walk in The Netherlands with his host family. Treatments will be long, but the rebirth is started. STD thanks first of all the courageous Rumanian couple who rescued Elvis and then Ton, Annie and Bianca of Dogs Adoptions NL, for their immediate and generous response to our appeal.
