Bica was thin and debilitated by mange when we found him wandering the streets. Today Bica is unrecognizable: not only has his physical appearance changed but so has his humor: Bica’s eyes seem to say “Finally, I’m happy!”. Here he is in the photos together with the other animals of the Dutch family that has welcomed him into their home, thanks to Dogs Adoptions NL.

Thanks to the mobilization of Italian and European associations, from 14th to 21st January the number of the Members of the European Parliament who signed the Written Declaration 54/2009 rose from 173 to 275. One hundred signatures in one week, a boom that can be explained only with the support of those who transmitted letters and emails to the MEPs of their country, following the invitation of STD and of other organizations. As far as Italy is concerned, the numbers of signatories rose from 7 to 28: an important result, but not yet sufficient to approve the Declaration. Here you can find the updated list of the English signatories: in this moment we suggest to avoid the massive delivery of emails to those who didn’t signed, but to directly get in touch with the MEP of your own region. 162 KENNELS TO BE URGENTLY CHANGED AT CERNAVODA SHELTER

Once again we appeal to the generosity of our supporters to improve the life conditions of our 400 dogs in the shelter of Cernavoda. There are 162 old wooden kennels that need to be urgently changed, as they are very ruined. Adding 15 Euros to the cost of the kennels manufactured by a Rumanian carpenter, we can buy Ferplast kennels, model Kenny, the only kennels with an acceptable price available on the Rumanian market. The model Kenny 5, in fact, costs 50 euros and it guarantees a good isolation from excessive cold and heat. Obviously, each year STD buys the straw which is necessary to heat the kennels during the coolest months.
To donate a kennel it is possible to use the various types of donation that you can find in the section “Help us” or to use the credit card. We will promptly keep you updated in the course of the fundraising. Thanks to you all!
As of today (4 February 2010) 1,500 euro have been donated that will allow us to purchase 30 dog houses for Cernavoda
