FREE FLIGHTS FOR ROMANIAN STRAYS

LOYALTY PROGRAMS THAT  OUR STRAYS

Donate your Miles&More Lufthansa or Alitalia Millemiglia miles to Save the Dogs. If you are a member of one of these frequent-flyer programs, you can give an important contribution to Save the Dogs. By donating your miles (30.000 Lufthansa or 12.000 Alitalia), you will enable us to send an Italian, Swedish or Finnish volunteer free of charge to transfer five strays to one of these countries.

WHY ARE OUR DOGS FLYING ABROAD?

Although our project focuses on canine sterilization, many dogs cannot return to their original territory after surgery. There are many reasons for this:

- Some dogs are puppies bound to die of starvation or diseases because they lost their mother;
– Some are small or purebred dogs once living in families and abandoned by their owners. They do not belong to a pack, and bigger strays keep them away from food (mostly garbage);
– Some are injured or sick dogs that have spent long post-treatment periods in our shelter and cannot be released in the street again;
– Some dogs were rescued from public kennels, where they were scheduled for lethal injection;
– Some dogs have been the object of complaints on the part of locals and risk being killed in a cruel manner by those who were attacked by them. In addition, local authorities require us to catch and keep “aggressive” dogs without releasing them on the territory.

These animals have all been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and included in our ADOPTION PROGRAMS, for which Save the Dogs relies on shelters in Northern Italy and in Switzerland, on the Hundhjalpen association in Sweden and on  Friends of Homeless Dogs in Finland.
If we didn’t, they would simply be obliged to put down dogs because of overcrowding.

Thanks to your miles, we can save valuable resources and allocate them to other important needs of our facility (drugs, food, salaries, fuel).
