It was a magnificent party on Tuesday November 23 in Milan in the marvelous setting of the dog friendly Hotel The HUB. Livened up with the arrival of host Edoardo Stoppa from Striscia la Notizia, who signed autographs and took photos with all biped and four-legged friends present. The party received more than 200 supporters who united with the STD team to exchanges Christmas wishes.
The highlight of the evening was the benefit auction of three items Archidog which saw defenders of the animals from Striscia closing the bid on the first of three dog kennels from STD’s design partners for the event. The session “unique piece” with the STD logo shaped on the white metallic surface was purchased by a supporter from Milan (photo below).
During the aperitif a photographic set was put in place to allow owners to take Christmas photos of their own dogs, which would be eligible for the competition “Christmas with our dogs” , while “At home for Christmas” was an enormous success: all 24 puppies “hidden” behind the little houses found a sponsor which will permit the puppies to leave Romania before Christmas.
The service at The Hub was impeccable. They pampered those present with an aperitif and a wonderful meal.
STD would like to thank all the supporters and partners involved in the event: Hotel The Hub, Archidog, DesignForMe, FoodForMe, GCColombo, Studio Fotografando, and the photographer Alessio Mesiano for his beautiful feature on the evening. To see all the photos visit the Facebook album.

Saturday November 6, our Milan STD offices got about 60 people together for the first Save The Dogs event that was exclusively dedicated to its volunteers.
The informal atmosphere and the tasty buffet helped the most experienced volunteers share their experiences with people who for the first time got close to the activities that the association proposes. During the night two volunteers have also been awarded because of their particularly distinguished devotion to the STD cause in 2010, Alessandra Farina for her frequent transferring animals coming from Romania to the shelters and Viviana Bernardi, for her restless precision in preparing our information material.
A gift for all the guests was the first Guide to the STD voluntary work, a tool to find one’s way in the various activities and to choose the most suitable one to one’s own needs. To see all the pictures of the night click here.
We thank all the participants for their warm and pleasant presence!
Our embassy in Romania continues to work to highlight the experience of the non-profit Italian community active in the country.
At the end of October a lunch was organized which allowed the associations assembled within CIAO to meet some member senators from the Human Rights Commission, which are working on an inquiry regarding the situation of Ethnic groups in Rom. The lunch which was attended by the usual courteousness of the Ambassador Mario Cospito and his wife Franca. Representatives from Parada, Murialdo, AVSI, Don Orione, Padri Somaschi and of course Save the Dogs via the president Sara Turetta also participated in the lunch. Great interest was shown by honorable participants not only for the theme linked to disabilities/handicaps and homeless children but also a great interest towards our association in favor of animals and their owners which benefit from free veterinary assistance or at low cost.
Wednesday October 13, in Cadempino, close to Lugano, Save the Dog’s third information evening took place. The initiative has now become a fixed date on the STD calendar of events and a pleasant moment of exchange with all the Swiss families who have adopted a Romanian dog. Sara Turetta updated the guests on the latest project developments in Romania without forgetting to give a general presentation of the project to all who have just approached or become familiar with the association.
A special thanks to the Swiss delegation for their thorough and punctual organization.
