A JENNY AND HER FOAL ABBANDONDED IN MEDGIDIA ARE SAVED

In september a jenny and her foal were abbandonded in Medgidia’s dumpsite next to the La Farge cement factory. The pair were searching for food along the railway line used for transporting the raw materials needed for production to the factory. The Medgidia staff, who were contacted by the factory, acted immediately and took the two animals to the Cernavoda donkey sanctuary. If you wish to support emergency aid and recovery activities for donkeys in need, you can make a donation stating “Romanian Donkeys” as reason for payment.

It was on the roadside for at least three days. Run over by a car 3km from Cernavoda. But it wasn’t the police to inform Save the Dogs . After having revealed the details of the accident, the police left the wounded donkey, completely uninterested. Only the compassion of a village resident, aware of Save the Dogs allowed us to identify the poor animal, by then already eaten by flies and with two fractured legs. Unfortunately, there was nothing left to do except put it down there and then. The intervention was also filmed by Romanian TV, who were at our premises by chance to do some filming.

COSTEL, THE SERIOUSLY INJURED DONKEY OF MEDGIDIA, IS WELL

Do you remember Costel, the donkey who was found at the end of March on the outskirts of Medgidia?
After almost two months of treatment, our four-footed friend has recovered and his wounds have almost completely healed up. Costel left his quarantine stall a few days ago and has been moved to the enclosures of the shelter.
A big thank you to Raul, the STD veterinary who has been coordinating the donkey projects since January.

Her mother Gabriella was abandoned and found pregnant a few months ago. She gave birth to Maria, a beautiful baby donkey who became the mascot of the shelter – at the end of April. In these pictures, you can see a few-day-old Maria next to her mother, who never lets her out of her sight.
