TOSCA AND TOBIA ARE CONVALESCING

Tosca

Tosca and Tobia are better. The two dogs, who joined our Medgidia sterilization centre a few dys from each other, have recovered from their surgery. Tosca, who had a paw amputated, is progressively regaining her trust in people. Tobia, who lost both eyes due to a head trauma, is walking more and more comfortably in our courtyard and, as you can see in the pictures at the bottom, adores Alina the veterinarian who treated him. We take this opportunity to remind everyone that STD refuses all forms of therapeutic obstinacy and is aware that it is not in a position to improve or save the life of every suffering animal in Romania. Tobia’s case has been object of a debate, within the organization, over what kind of future is being offered to the dog. Even if Tobia should not find a home in Sweden, he will always have guaranteed food, affection and space: well-being that, in all probabilities, could not be offered in future similar cases, because STD space and resources are limited. We would like to remind everyone that similar cases, in Romania, represent daily tragedies and should not be considered “extraordinary” at all.
Thanks to Clementina Forconi’s friends for the treatment given to Tobia and to all those who contributed to the medical costs for these two ex-strays.

ANOTHER INCREDIBLE CASE IN MEDGIDIA

sany0172.JPG

Three days: it took so long to Tobia’s master to take him to our veterinary after the dog received a blow on his head (maybe due to a running over…) which made his eyes jump out of the sockets. In front of the hypotesis of a blind dog, the master didn’t hesitate to ask for euthanasia. After a consultancy with the President of STD, the veterinary decided to submit little Tobia (a sweet and very sociable dog) to an eyes operation, with the convition that he could find a loving family in Sweden, also considering that there aren’t any other injuries on the rest of his body. We will keep you updated about his conditions. Click here to see the pictures of the conditions of Tobia when he arrived at our centre (advised against impressionable people). If you wish to participate in supporting Tobia’s medical expenses, please send STD a bank transfer indicating the following cause: “Tobia’s cure”.

STD has been reassured this morning by Alina Vasile (our vet in Medgidia) that Tosca will survive. Even if the amputation of both her paw and her tail was necessary, the infection is under control and Tosca is eating normally. STD thanks all those supporters who gave their contribution for the surgery: without you we could not have provided all the required assistance to Tosca! Once her wounds will heal, Tosca (who is a lovely pet) will be included in the Swedish adoption program run by Hundhjalpen.
