A two-hour-long violent storm was enough to make the whole sewering system in the city of Cernavoda go haywire. This i show the dog pound looked this afternoon: the dogs soaking, 40 cm of water at least and the fear that the level could rise up and the water could reach the clinic once again. The downpour fell suddenly , after one month of torrid heat which did not made think of nothing like that. Though the Municipality sent a draining pump (the pump gifted by Wspa two years ago was unfortunately not suitable), it is clear’ that the relocation of the shelter has become more and more a priority, considering the violence of the natural pheomena and the structural deficit of the present location. The hope is that the rain, which keeps on falling, blows over, and that the situation could come back to normal.
In the shelter there are presently 400 adult dogs’ and about 40 puppies abandoned by the usual irresponsible in the latest days.
Surprising result in Cernavoda, where’ the already two-times-mayor George Hansa was defeated by Mariana Mircea, PSD candidated and ex town councillor during the previous adimistration. To the contrary confirmed in Calarasi for Nicolae Dragu, PNL candidated who is in talks with STD to start a neutering project on a large scale in the city. STD whishes the newly elected Mariana Mircea to do a great job, in the hope to continue the profitably cooperation started with the municipality of Cernavoda in 2002.
Two weeks ago the images of the two puppies and their desperate cries shocked and moved the viewers of Antena 1’s tg. The puppies had become trapped in a construction site in Costanza, where tar had liquefied, leaving them trapped without an escape route. Rescued by the City’s firefighters (distinguished for their compassion), the puppies were brought to a clinic in Costanza where their chances of survival seemed slim. This being the case, STD contacted the clinic and offered to take the two little ones to its clinic in Cernavoda. Here they are in the photo below after one of the many baths they’ve received almost daily in an effort to remove the tar completely. Click hereunder to see the extraordinary photos of their rescue.
