Last 20th February the Partners’ meeting has appointed the new Executive of the association for the years 2009-2012. Besides the confirmation of Sara Turetta as President, Paola Lazzarini (Shelter of the abandoned dog of Mantova) has been appointed new Vice-President of STD, while Marina di Leo (already Councillor and Director of the magazine SAVE) is the new treasurer. The Auditor is Aris Merlo, Swiss member of STD and foster father of our Maya.

After four marvellous years with her owners, Fabiana and Andrea, our Heidi has left us. Adopted five years ago by Fabiana after a stint as voluntary worker at Cernavoda, Heidi had been found by STD completely hairless due to a severe case of mange. The little dog was no youngster but (as shown, in these photos, by the look in her eyes) she was cheerful and full of beans; she has left a big void in her owners lives. Fabiana and Andrea have earned STD’s full gratitude for having changed the life of this special creature.

DONKEY RESCUED IN MEDGIDIA, DIES AFTER TWO DAYS

Many abandoned donkeys have been rescued in Cernadova and Medgidia. Some of them, like poor Maria in the photo below, were in extremely critical condition. To read about her, please click here.’
