SECOND EDITION OF SAVE THE DOGS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

When on one morning last July our staff working at Medgidia shelter found in front of the gate 6 children waiting for them, then we realized that we succeeded.

These children, indeed, were amongst the 1.500 pupils from all the primary schools in town who attended our educational program “Become a responsible owner” and they came to the shelter to get to know some of our dogs, which Alexandra, our teacher, was talking about during the classes. The little ones spent a few hours playing with the animals at the playground of the centre and returned to their homes relieved, knowing that their friends with a dramatic past were now the happy guests of our shelter.

Two private donors from Monaco allowed us to restart the program (costs being 4.000 euro/year), which was also launched in Cernavoda primary schools. This year the program will include guided visits to our Footprints of Joy location, where the children will have the chance to make contact with the horses and donkeys while visiting our centre.
