Faced with <em>Spike<\/em>\u2019s refusal to accept strict rules, both sanitary and administrative and given the Municipality\u2019s threat to start killing strays again, <strong>in October 2002 Sara Turetta decided to leave her job in Milan and moved to Cernavoda<\/strong>. Le strade della cittadina erano <strong>piene di cadaveri dei randagi avvelenati<\/strong> dagli operatori del Comune, cosa che stava avvenendo con modalit\u00e0 simili in tutto il paese.<br \/> Resasi conto che si poteva instaurare un <strong>dialogo costruttivo<\/strong> <strong>con l\u2019Amministrazione Comunale, Sara Turetta si fece promotrice di <\/strong><strong>un <strong>accordo (maggio 2002)<\/strong><\/strong>: a fronte di una intensa attivit\u00e0\u00a0di sterilizzazione finanziata con fondi stranieri, i circa 2.000 randagi presenti sulle strade non sarebbero pi\u00f9 stati uccisi.<\/p><p>Il progetto inizialmente doveva essere portato avanti da una piccola associazione locale<em> (Spike<\/em>), che avrebbe dovuto gestire la clinica e il rifugio gi\u00e0 parzialmente costruiti grazie alle donazioni raccolte in Italia.<br \/> Di fronte al rifiuto da parte di <em>Spike<\/em> di accettare regole ben precise, sia di tipo igienico sanitario che amministrativo, e con la minaccia da parte del Comune di riprendere le uccisioni, <strong>n<strong>ell\u2019ottobre del 2002 Sara Turetta decise di lasciare il suo lavoro a Milano e si trasfer\u00ec a Cernavoda,<\/strong><\/strong> ripartendo da zero con un nuovo edificio da ristrutturare messo a disposizione dal Comune e rimanendo a vivere nella cittadina per oltre 3 anni.<\/p><p>La struttura esiste ancora oggi e comprende una <strong>piccola clinica veterinaria di 160 mq con annesso un canile sanitario<\/strong> (capacit\u00e0 max: 130 animali) da cui transitano i cani in attesa di essere spostati al rifugio <em><u><a href=\"http:\/\/www.footprintsofjoy.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Footprints of Joy<\/a><\/u><\/em>.
