The<\/strong> 1st<\/sup> Report on the chaining of dogs in Italy and elsewhere in the world<\/a> <\/strong>was <\/strong>the result of a major study carried out by the non-profit start up Green Impact which<\/strong> \u2013 in collaboration with <\/strong>Save the Dogs<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 analyzed this practice from a legal and scientific point of view<\/strong> for the very first time<\/strong>. While most of us believe that keeping a dog on a chain should be prohibited, leafing through the Report it is evident that the reality is unfortunately quite different.<\/p>\n

Each and every Italian region <\/strong>has been reviewed using a series of detailed infographics. The Report also examines other countries in Europe, including the outstanding positive examples of Austria and Sweden<\/strong>, two countries where \u2013 and not by chance \u2013 Save the Dogs<\/em> has developed partnerships for its international adoption programs.<\/p>\n

The Report is not limited to taking into consideration only legal aspects, but also deals with scientific ones<\/strong>, gathering together the opinions of authoritative experts who condemn the keeping of a dog on a chain from an ethological point of view, with everyone in agreement that it should be defined as a form of maltreatment<\/strong> that heavily impacts on the dogs\u2019 state of well-being.<\/p>\n

The Report is a powerful tool for supporting the authorities, police forces and non-profit organizations<\/strong> that are keen to investigate this issue, as well as hopefully being the first step towards banning the chaining of dogs<\/strong> in Italy and Europe.<\/p>\n

Il 1\u00b0 Rapporto sui cani a catena in Italia e nel mondo<\/a><\/strong> \u00e8 nato dell\u2019importante lavoro di ricerca della start up Green Impact <\/strong>\u00a0che - in collaborazione con Save the Dogs<\/em> \u2013 ha analizzato per la prima volta questa pratica dal punto di vista legale e scientifico<\/strong>. Se infatti la maggior parte di noi pensa che tenere un cane a catena sia vietato, sfogliando il Rapporto ci si rende conto che purtroppo la realt\u00e0 \u00e8 assai diversa.<\/p>

Con l\u2019aiuto di una serie di infografiche si passano in rassegna tutte le regioni italiane<\/strong> e si scopre che alcune hanno approvato il divieto assoluto di tenere un cane a catena<\/strong>, (Umbria e Campania), mentre altre sono totalmente prive di una regolamentazione (Liguria, Sicilia e Basilicata), mentre altre ancora \u00a0\u2013 Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Abruzzo e Puglia<\/strong> \u2013 vietano la catena ma con alcune deroghe, non sempre chiare e ben circostanziate. Lo sguardo del Rapporto si allarga poi all\u2019Europa, dove spiccano gli esempio positivi di Austria e Svezia<\/strong>, guarda caso proprio due paesi dove Save the Dogs<\/em> ha attivato partnership per i propri programmi di adozione internazionale.<\/p>

Il Rapporto per\u00f2 non si limita agli aspetti giuridici e affronta anche quelli scientifici<\/strong>, raccogliendo i pareri di autorevoli esperti che condannano dal punto di vista etologico il mantenimento di un cane alla catena, tutti concordi nel definirla una forma di maltrattamento<\/strong> che impatta pesantemente sul benessere del cane.<\/p>

Il Rapporto rappresenta uno strumento prezioso per le autorit\u00e0, le forze di polizia e le organizzazioni no profit<\/strong> che vogliano approfondire il tema e, si spera, il primo passo verso la messa al bando<\/strong> \u2013 in Italia e in Europa \u2013 della catena.<\/p>
