The freezing rains have begun in Cernavoda, and as the winter season progresses many cats and dogs living out in the open countryside have absolutely no shelter from the elements and the biting cold weather.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the invaluable support from our donors we can make this time of year less harsh for the exposed animals by providing them with the food and shelter<\/strong> they need<\/strong> to survive the winter.<\/p>\n

\"\"Over the last few weeks the Save the Dogs<\/em> team in Romania has delivered emergency supplies to the villages of Seimeni Mici and Cochirleni, destined for animals belonging to the poorest families. A total of 19 kennels, 172 kilos of dry and wet food and 15 food bowls <\/strong>have already been distributed to 10 needy households<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Where the conditions have been particularly critical<\/strong>, our team has returned a number of times to provide additional quantities of food. This has been the case for Nicolina, an elderly lady who lives with her two dogs. Nicolina asked for our assistance in helping her tackle the winter months, and we have been able to deliver kennels, straw and high protein food to supplement Axel and Toby\u2019s poor diet. We will be visiting Nicolina again over the coming weeks to offer extra aid for her aging dogs.<\/p>\n

We have also identified some particularly challenging situations where dogs are kept tethered outside on chains<\/strong>, a reality that is unfortunately still widespread in the poorer parts of the countryside.<\/p>\n

Although we would prefer to release these animals from a life of maltreatment, we rarely succeed in convincing their owners to put the chain on a sliding cable or to let the dog run free for at least a few hours a day. In the majority of cases, we have provided the owners with a longer chain and a more suitable collar. In total, we have so far distributed 7 chains<\/strong> that are long enough to allow the dogs more freedom of movement and 5 leashes. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Our emergency initiative has only just begun and our colleagues are doing everything they can to ensure that as many animals as possible receive their assistance and help. <\/strong>For this reason, we will continue to distribute kennels and food throughout the months of January and February.<\/p>\n

It is only thanks to the support of the friends of Save the Dogs<\/em> that we will be able to reach a larger number of cats and dogs and offer them more dignified living conditions.<\/p>\n

A Cernavoda sono iniziate le piogge gelate e con l\u2019avanzare dell\u2019inverno molti cani e gatti di propriet\u00e0 che vivono in aperta campagna non hanno un riparo contro le intemperie e il freddo.<\/p>

Grazie al prezioso sostegno dei nostri sostenitori possiamo rendere questo periodo dell\u2019anno meno duro offrendo loro cibo e riparo<\/strong> per sopravvivere alla stagione invernale.<\/p>

Nelle scorse settimane il team Save the Dogs Romania<\/em> ha raggiunto i villaggi di Seimeni Mici e Cochirleni con i primi aiuti destinati agli animali delle famiglie pi\u00f9 povere. 19 cucce, 172 chili di cibo tra secco e umido e 15 ciotole <\/strong>sono state distribuite a 10 famiglie indigenti.<\/strong><\/p>

Nelle situazioni pi\u00f9 critiche<\/strong>, il nostro team \u00e8 tornato pi\u00f9 volte a distribuire cibo supplementare come nel caso di Nicolina, un\u2019anziana signora che vive insieme a due cani.<\/p>

Nicolina ci aveva chiesto aiuto per affrontare l\u2019inverno e per Axel e Toby sono arrivate le cucce con paglia e cibo proteico per integrare una dieta povera. Nelle prossime settimane torneremo nuovamente da Nicolina per garantire ulteriori aiuti ai suoi cani anziani.<\/p>

Abbiamo inoltre individuato alcune situazioni particolarmente critiche per gli animali con cani tenuti a catena<\/strong>, una realt\u00e0 purtroppo ancora diffusa nelle campagne pi\u00f9 povere.<\/p>

\"\"Anche se vorremmo liberare questi animali da una vita di maltrattamento, solo in rari casi riusciamo a convincere i padroni a mettere la catena su un cavo scorrevole o a liberare il cane almeno alcune ore. Nella maggior parte dei casi offriamo una catena pi\u00f9 lunga e un collare adeguato. In totale a oggi abbiamo distribuito 7 catene di lunghezza adeguata<\/strong> per permettere una maggior libert\u00e0 di movimento e 5 guinzagli. <\/strong><\/p>

L\u2019intervento di emergenza \u00e8 appena iniziato e <\/strong>i nostri colleghi stanno facendo il possibile affinch\u00e9 tutti gli animali ricevano assistenza e aiuti.<\/strong> Per questo continueremo a distribuire cucce e cibo anche nei mesi di gennaio e di febbraio.<\/p>

Solo grazie al sostegno degli amici di Save the Dogs<\/em> potremo raggiungere un numero maggiore di cani e gatti ai quali garantire condizioni di vita pi\u00f9 dignitose.<\/p>

Thanks to the invaluable support from our donors we can make this time of year less harsh for the exposed animals by providing them with the food and shelter they need to survive the winter. Over the last few weeks the Save the Dogs team in Romania has delivered emergency supplies to the villages of Seimeni Mici and Cochirleni, destined for animals belonging to the poorest families. A total of 19 kennels, 172 kilos of dry and wet food and 15 food bowls have already been distributed to 10 needy households. Where the conditions have been particularly critical, our team has returned a number of times to provide additional quantities of food. This has been the case for Nicolina, an elderly lady who lives with her two dogs. Nicolina asked for our assistance in helping her tackle the winter months, and we have been able to deliver kennels, straw and high protein food to supplement Axel and Toby\u2019s poor diet.
