Our vaccination campaign against distemper continues in Cernavoda, where we have been fighting a serious epidemic over recent weeks. <\/em><\/p>\n

So far, we have successfully vaccinated 91 dogs to protect them from distemper. We are facing the worst epidemic for the last seven years in Cernavoda in Romania, which is causing the death of a great many animals on the streets, both strays and privately-owned dogs. We have set ourselves an objective of vaccinating at least 100 animals, and we are getting ever closer to achieving our goal.<\/p>\n

91 dogs, including strays and privately-owned dogs, vaccinated against distemper<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We have been conducting a vaccination and information campaign throughout Cernavoda for four weeks now. We started with the strays we monitor on the streets, protecting the individuals we know best and who allow us to close enough to inoculate them.<\/p>\n

We have also contacted all the families we assist with the Connecting Lives program, offering them free vaccines for all their animals. These are people who have serious financial problems and do not have the resources to provide their dogs and cats with basic care. We therefore step in to help with situations like this one.<\/p>\n

The Braga family and their dogs Rex and Lenita<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One such example is the Braga family. The couple lives in a modest house with a garden along with two dogs and a small colony of cats. Over the years, we have been involved in spaying and neutering all their animals and taking them donations of food on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

As soon as the epidemic broke out, we immediately contacted them and offered to vaccinate their two dogs, Rex and Lenita who spend a lot of time outside, free of charge. We know they are therefore now protected and safe from harm.<\/p>\n

\"\"Our campaign to raise awareness in the community is also ongoing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In addition to vaccinating the animals, we are also carrying out a campaign throughout the city to raise awareness, distributing leaflets on distemper with useful tips for recognizing early symptoms and acting promptly. We are distributing this information door to door, as well as at supermarket entrances and exits and in other public places.<\/p>\n

Raising awareness and persuading people to get their animals vaccinated is paramount if we are to counter the spread of the epidemic. In recent weeks, we have witnessed some very serious cases that could easily have been prevented by the administering of a simple shot, so we plan to continue our efforts in this area.<\/p>\n

Continua la nostra campagna di vaccinazioni contro il cimurro a Cernavoda, dove da qualche settimana stiamo combattendo una grave epidemia. <\/em><\/p>\r\n

Sono 91 i cani che siamo riusciti a vaccinare fino adesso contro il cimurro<\/strong>. A Cernavoda, in Romania, stiamo facendo i conti con la peggiore epidemia degli ultimi sette anni che sta minacciando la vita di centinaia di animali sulle strade, tra randagi e cani di propriet\u00e0. Ci siamo dati l\u2019obiettivo di vaccinare almeno 100<\/strong> di loro e siamo sempre pi\u00f9 vicini a raggiungerlo.<\/p>\r\n

Da ormai quattro settimane stiamo conducendo una campagna di vaccinazione e informazione<\/strong> in tutta Cernavoda. Siamo partiti dai randagi che monitoriamo sulle strade, proteggendo gli individui che conosciamo meglio e che si lasciano avvicinare a sufficienza per farsi fare una puntura.<\/p>\r\n

Ma abbiamo anche individuato le famiglie pi\u00f9 bisognose che aiutiamo grazie al nostro lavoro porta a porta Vite Connesse<\/strong><\/a> e offerto vaccini gratuiti per tutti i loro animali<\/strong>. Si tratta di persone che hanno grosse difficolt\u00e0 economiche<\/strong> e che spesso non hanno le risorse per garantire ai loro cani e gatti le cure di base. Cos\u00ec, come in questo caso, interveniamo noi.<\/p>\r\n

I signori Braga e i cani Rex e Lenita<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n

Una di queste \u00e8 la famiglia Braga<\/strong><\/a>. I due coniugi vivono in una casa modesta con giardino insieme a due cani e una piccola colonia di gatti. Negli anni ci siamo occupati di sterilizzare tutti gli animali<\/strong> e di portare regolarmente delle donazioni in cibo.<\/p>\r\n

Appena \u00e8 scoppiata l\u2019epidemia li abbiamo subito contattati e ci siamo offerti di vaccinare gratuitamente i due cani Rex e Lenita che trascorrono molto tempo all\u2019esterno. Ora sono entrambi protetti e al sicuro<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n

Oltre a vaccinare gli animali, stiamo anche portando avanti una campagna di sensibilizzazione in tutta la citt\u00e0, distribuendo volantini sul cimurro con consigli utili per riconoscere i primi sintomi<\/strong> e agire tempestivamente. Li stiamo distribuendo di porta in porta, all\u2019uscita dei supermercati e dei luoghi pubblici.<\/p>\r\n

Sensibilizzare la popolazione e persuaderla a fare le vaccinazioni necessarie \u00e8 fondamentale per contrastare la diffusione dell\u2019epidemia.<\/p>\r\n
