It is for this reason that he knew having his dogs sterilized was the right choice to make when he heard about our spay\/neuter program.<\/p>\n<p>You only have to spend a few minutes with Mr. Nicola to see that <strong>he loves his pets very much<\/strong>, especially little Pippi whom he holds onto while we prepare the paperwork to spay her.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/www.savethedogs.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/sterilizzazioni.jpg&#8221; title_text=&#8221;sterilizzazioni&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; width=&#8221;65%&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][\/et_pb_image][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Testo&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.22.2&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Their story is common to many families in the area: since they are not spayed, the dogs naturally mate and <strong>new litters continue to be born<\/strong>, which in most cases leads to them <strong>being abandoned<\/strong> and further compounds the phenomenon of stray animals on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Nicola chose to take care of all the little puppies he couldn\u2019t find a family willing to adopt them, but he realized that the situation would not be tenable in the long run, especially as new litters were born.<\/p>\n<p>He then heard about \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.savethedogs.eu\/en\/in-italy\/too-many-puppies-campania\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Too Many Puppies<\/a><\/strong>\u2019, the program to combat stray animals that we launched in 2019 in Campania and Calabria together with our local partners.<\/p>\n<p>We are supported by the San Francesco Dog Shelter in Castel Volturno, which <strong>organizes small twice-weekly sterilization marathons free of charge<\/strong> for dogs and cats for families living in the area and for strays monitored in the area by volunteers. Pippi&#8217;s can have access to this procedur<\/strong>e, thus avoiding the birth of unwanted litters that then run the risk being abandoned or placed in adoptions that do not always end well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Domestic litters remain one of the biggest problems in the area<\/strong>, which is why the Shelter and volunteers work together to <strong>promote sterilization programs<\/strong> and reach out to families who haven&#8217;t yet had their pets spayed or
