Alcuni passanti ce l\u2019avevano segnalato, attirati anche loro dal modo in cui era raggomitolato su s\u00e9 stesso, <strong>come a volersi nascondere<\/strong>. All\u2019inizio rifiutava anche solo di guardarci negli occhi e nemmeno il gustoso pat\u00e9 che gli stavamo offrendo sembrava convincerlo a fidarsi di noi. Poi qualcosa \u00e8 cambiato.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>I primi giorni a Footprints of Joy<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pur non sapendo nulla di certo del suo passato, abbiamo sospettato fin da subito che <strong>fosse stato abbandonato<\/strong>. Il modo in cui si comportava, il luogo in cui l\u2019abbiamo trovato e le sue condizioni generali non erano quelle di un cane abituato a sopravvivere in strada.<\/p>\n<p>Con molta pazienza (e molto pat\u00e9), siamo riusciti a farlo alzare e a convincerlo a mangiare qualcosa. Abbiamo passato giorni semplicemente <strong>seduti sul lettino della sua camera<\/strong> per dargli modo di conoscerci, di abituarsi al nostro odore, ai gesti delle mani, al tono della voce.<\/p>\n<p>Non ci \u00e8 voluto molto prima che quello <strong>sguardo da eterno cucciolo<\/strong> conquistasse tutto il personale del nostro centro. E cos\u00ec Fausto ha avuto modo di conoscere persone nuove, di annusare nuovi spazi, fino al giorno in cui \u00e8 stato pronto per mettere pettorina e guinzaglio e uscire alla scoperta del mondo.<\/p>\n<p>Settimana dopo settimana, l\u2019abbiamo visto <strong>ritrovare la fiducia in s\u00e9 stesso<\/strong>, affrontare nuove attivit\u00e0 con sempre pi\u00f9 coraggio, imparare a relazionarsi con le persone e con gli altri ospiti del nostro rifugio.<\/p>\n<p>Fino a quando \u00e8 arrivato il messaggio che speravamo di ricevere: una persona in Italia era interessata ad <strong>adottarlo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>L\u2019adozione in Italia<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=%22https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C_iD6sJomvU\/?hl=it%22 data-et-target-link=%22_blank%22 rel=%22noopener%22><strong>Fausto \u00e8 stato accolto dallo staff italiano in un pomeriggio di settembre<\/strong> <\/a>e accompagnato poco dopo tra le braccia della sua nuova famiglia. Nel momento in cui \u00e8 sceso dal furgone l\u2019emozione ha avuto il sopravvento per tutti ed \u00e8 stata una <strong>bellissima conclusione per una storia cos\u00ec speciale<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nessuno dei dipendenti milanesi l\u2019aveva mai incontrato, ma \u00e8 stato come se l\u2019avessero sempre conosciuto. E lo stesso \u00e8 stato con la sua nuova famiglia che l\u2019ha accolto in un <strong>abbraccio rassicurante<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Qualche giorno dopo abbiamo ricevuto le sue <strong>prime foto a casa<\/strong>. As we gently gave him a thorough clean, the reason for this became all too apparent: hidden beneath a mass of fur, tangles, and knots was a severely malnourished dog covered from head to toe in fleas and ticks.<\/p>\n<p>We started his treatment, and as he gradually recovered he was almost <strong>unrecognizable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_987514763\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-987514763\" class=\"wp-image-987514763 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.savethedogs.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_20240827_115427-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"When we first admitted Evren, he was in a piteous condition\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-987514763\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">When we first admitted Evren, he was in a piteous condition<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Evren&#8217;s early days at our shelter<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When we first admitted Evren, he was in a piteous condition \u2013 severly underweight and infested with parasites. <strong>His fur was so matted and tangled with foreign objects<\/strong> that we had to shave it all off to remove them.<\/p>\n<p>As we removed his fur, it became clear just how thin he was and how many parasites he was carrying. After covering him up and moving him to the quarantine area of our clinic, <strong>he began to relax and let us gently pat him on the face<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the days that followed, we started his treatment, and as soon as he was stable enough, <strong>we sterilized him<\/strong>, which is the protocol we follow for all animals entering the shelter.<\/p>\n<p>Gradually, he began to relax and feel more comfortable with us, seeking out our company. Most importantly, <strong>he started to gain weight,<\/strong> his fur started to grow back, and the treatments began to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>Then the moment we had been waiting for finally arrived.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_987514769\" style=\"width: 234px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-987514769\" class=\"wp-image-987514769 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.savethedogs.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/1727240049197-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"Evren after a few weeks under our care\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-987514769\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evren after a few weeks under our care<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Evren&#8217;s first experience in the playground<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When he was ready, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAsub2Ho4Ap\/?hl=it\"><strong>we took Evren for his first walk in the grounds of our shelter<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was an important moment for us, not only because it meant his health was improving, but also due to the initiative he was showing. If you had seen the condition in which we found him, you would know exactly what this meant for us.<\/p>\n<p>His physical improvement is just one part of our approach; <strong>ensuring that every animal heals psychologically is equally important to us<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Within just a few weeks at our shelter, Evren has developed a strong trust in people, seeking contact \u00a0with them and guidance from them. Despite everything that has happened, <strong>he approaches every activity we introduce with curiosity<\/strong> and a strong desire to learn.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Learning to walk on a leash<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAsub2Ho4Ap\/?hl=it\"><strong>We are teaching Evren how to walk on a leash<\/strong><\/a>. Initially, he was a bit suspicious of this unfamiliar object, but his curiosity soon took over. As soon as he stepped outside, he was keen to greet everyone he met.<\/p>\n<p><strong>He walks confidently with his head held high<\/strong>, excitedly exploring the different areas of the shelter, and we feel immeasurably proud of him.<\/p>\n<p>Right now, however, <strong>our main priority is to ensure he makes a full recovery<\/strong> and heals from the three illnesses he is battling, as there is still a long way to go.<\/p>\n<p>We can see a huge potential in him, and we are committed to making sure he has everything he needs to get completely back on his feet and
