With the crucial support of highly motivated young MPs such as Andrei Baciu of the PNL, the signatures have now been submitted and the draft law officially filed<\/strong>. Save the Dogs<\/em> also took part in several meetings held in recent months in Parliament to contribute to the process.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the heart of the proposal is the abolition of euthanasia as a method for managing the dog population<\/strong>, just as Italy did in 1991.<\/p>\n

After Croatia, Portugal and Spain, Romania could therefore become the next European country to ban the killing of \u201csurplus\u201d animals<\/strong>. On the other hand, it is easy to predict that the political and economic lobby running Romania\u2019s kill-shelters will do everything it can to sabotage the bill supported by NGOs.<\/p>\n
