July 2025: moving stories of adoptions in Calabria

Everywhere we work, we encounter animals in desperate need of help.

Today, we want to share the stories of two of them: Sandrina and Livio. Both of them have been rescued from the streets and are now looking for a family in Italy to take care of them.

Sandrina, abandoned and looking for a new home

Sandrina is a large dog, who we found alone and devastated next to her deceased puppy. She is desperately hoping for a happy ending.
She is approximately 5 or 6 years old. When she was discovered outside Rogliano (Italy), she was skin and bones, suffering from mange, and in an exhausted state due to hunger and pain. The lifeless body of her puppy lay beside her. Our precious collaborator, Nuvola, stepped in and rescued her.

It has taken patience, care, and affection, to restore Sandrina to good health. She has been treated and sterilized through our “Too Many Puppies” project, and has tested negative for vector-borne diseases. Today, she is ready to make a fresh start.

She is an incredibly sweet dog, gets along well with people and cats, but is not so fond of the company of other dogs, especially males.
All she needs now is the right family to come along and welcome her into their lives, forever.

Livio, the little Siamese cat rescued from the street

Livio is a Siamese cat, who was rescued and treated after being hit by a car.
He is about 7 or 8 years old. When Nuvola first found him, Livio was in terrible condition. The accident had shattered his jaw, leaving him in a pool of blood, unable to move or feed himself, making survival seem nearly impossible at first.

Employing all her infinite love, Nuvola provided him with the necessary care. Livio has made good progress, but he remains a delicate cat. He has an odd-looking little face, because he can’t fully close his mouth, which means he can’t chew properly and needs soft food that is easy to eat, like purées and baby food. He can eat on his own, but he needs someone who has plenty of time to care for him and help manage his challenges.

He has tested positive for FIV, but is otherwise healthy, although he does require monitoring and needs someone who can devote time to him. At first, he may seem a bit reserved, but once he feels comfortable, he is extremely affectionate. He is eager to give his all to the person who is willing to give him a new chance, transforming his destiny from a life on the streets and suffering, to a home with a loving adoptive family.
