SPAB Bellinzona spends time at Footprints of Joy
In September, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors to our shelter in Romania, Footprints of Joy: namely, the President and the Director of SPAB Bellinzona. We have been collaborating for more than twenty years with these trusted adoption partners in Switzerland, ensuring that the dogs we rescue find loving, responsible homes for the rest of their lives.
This visit was an opportunity for our partners to see firsthand the daily work our team carries out: welcoming and caring for hundreds of animals in need, running shelter activities, and helping animals in the wider community.
They were directly involved in some of the challenging and emotional moments we face every day, such as rescuing an injured dog accidentally hurt by its owner in the back yard, distributing food and anti-parasitic treatments in some of the poorest rural areas, and responding to an emergency with a kitten that had been run over on the highway and who sadly died upon arrival at the Center of Hope clinic in Bucharest.
The visit was a wonderful opportunity for collaboration and meaningful discussions, helping us not only to strengthen our partnership but also to reflect together on potential future steps together.
We are very grateful to Emanuele Besomi and Betty Agustoni for their professionalism and dedication, and would like to applaud the entire SPAB Bellinzona team for their commitment to animal welfare.
It is because of their support that many of the dogs we have rescued here in Romania – including Evren, who was very sick and infested with parasites when we first rescued him, and Bridget, a puppy found abandoned under a bridge – have been given a second chance.
Thanks to SPAB Bellinzona’s expertise in Canton Ticino, we hope to be able to share many more similarly happy stories with you.
