Noa’s journey to a fresh start

Story of the month
Noa was only six weeks old when someone threw him into the courtyard belonging to an elderly couple in Cernavodă, Romania. He was almost certainly an unwanted puppy, cruelly abandoned.

Fortunately, the couple chose to act in the best way by immediately contacting Save the Dogs. This meant we could step in, provide the care he urgently needed and offer him the possibility of a new beginning.

From that moment on, we supported his development every step of the way through to his sterilization and then prepared him for adoption.

Once he arrived with our Italian partner, L’Albero di Mais in Moncalieri, he was welcomed by a team of experienced volunteers who carefully evaluated his personality, his needs and the type of family that would suit him best.

Noa was successfully adopted after we had completed a structured process consisting of interviews, evaluations and pre-adoption checks. He now lives with one of the volunteers at the shelter, who met all the requirements needed to guarantee him a safe, stable and loving environment. Like all the animals we rehome, he continues to receive follow-up support even after adoption.

Stories like Noa’s remind us of the importance of teamwork: from fast, effective action in the field to working with serious and responsible partners who help secure caring, enduring adoptive homes.

Save the Dogs has been committed to breaking the cycle of abandonment and stray overpopulation for over twenty years. Every rescue is just one element of a far broader mission, which includes sterilization, awareness-raising, and ongoing dialogue with local communities to tackle the root causes of the problem.
