Story of the month: Amelia
Amelia: released from her chains and now able to live a life of freedom
Amelia
We discovered Amelia in a village in rural Romania, where poverty is still prevalent and dogs are often kept chained up for their entire lives. She was tied to a chain under the scorching sun, all skin and bones and visibly exhausted. At her side lay her newborn puppies. They were already infested by parasites, and had no shelter or proper care.
We stepped in immediately and brought her food and water, but Amelia was in such poor condition that we quickly understood that we had to remove her from there. It was the only hope for survival for both the mother and her puppies.
From that day on, Amelia was granted a fresh start in life. While still chained up, Amelia met an Italian couple who had been following our work for some time and who had traveled all the way to Romania to meet her. They bonded with her and decided to wait for her recovery while she also cared for her puppies. After months of patience and love at a distance, Amelia was finally able to make the trip to her new home just outside Milan.
Today, Amelia knows she is free from her chains and beloved.
She runs through the fields, plays, explores the world with a sense of wonder, and lives surrounded by affection and the company of other four-legged friends. Seeing her so full of life makes the days she spent chained up seem like a distant memory. Her connection with her new family is deep and genuine. It is the kind of love that reminds us of why we do what we do every day: every animal deserves to experience freedom, kindness, and the chance to express themselves.
Every day, we come across new cases like Amelia’s : dogs that need to be cared for and to be welcomed into a loving family.
With your support, we can continue to create more happy endings.
Help us today: together, we can change the fate of countless vulnerable animals.
