Tom’s journey from life on the streets to his new home
Tom gets adoptedWhen Tom was found abandoned outside a shopping center, he was emaciated, hungry, and very wary of human contact. Though naturally sociable, months of neglect and life on the streets had made him suspicious and defensive, a natural reaction to surviving in a world where he had to look out for himself. When he arrived at our shelter, our top priority was to reduce his stress levels. We provided him with a quiet space, a stable routine, and time to adjust without intrusive stimuli.
Once he began to relax, our veterinarians and feline behaviorists began his rehabilitation, following a program of gradual desensitization and positive reinforcement. Human interaction was introduced gradually and we made sure it was always linked to pleasant experiences: first through food, then play, and finally with gentle physical contact. Little by little, Tom grew more confident and trusting around people. Once timid and withdrawn, he has become a curious, affectionate cat who now willingly engages with people and responds calmly to daily handling.
After several months of recovery, Tom has finally found a loving family who adore him. He now enjoys a peaceful life in a home where he feels safe and cared for every day.
