New paths and playgrounds for the dogs at Footprints of Joy
Thanks to the generous donations received on the occasion of the 52nd birthday of our founder and president, Sara Turetta, new paths and areas dedicated to the shelter dogs are currently under construction at Footprints of Joy.
The crisis in international adoptions has lengthened the average amount of time spent at the shelter and means dogs are now with us for up to 400 days on average before finding their adoptive home. Longer stays require more space and stimulation to keep the residents happy and maintain their well-being, provide them with more elements during their recovery, and prepare them for future life with a family.
For this reason, we are incorporating longer walking paths with different surfaces, from gravel to wood chips, in order to stimulate exploration, and adding three playgrounds, ranging from 150 to 300 square meters, where the animals can run and play freely. Everyone living at Footprints of Joy, including those receiving veterinary care, will therefore benefit from these improvements.
This wonderful gift for the animals can only be made a reality because of your support. We are so grateful to have you by our side as we continue to build a safer and more dignified future for every animal in our care, step by precious step.
