Update from our shelter: Victor is finally home again!
One evening, without warning, Victor — one of the horses who has been with us for over 17 years — suddenly fell seriously ill. Our veterinarian found him in great distress. He was trembling all over and seemed very disoriented. After hours of treatment, it became necessary to transport him urgently to a specialist equine clinic in Bucharest, as our center is not equipped to carry out major surgery on horses.
Victor received intensive treatment as soon as he arrived at the clinic. He was given 15 liters of fluids a day, a catheter to help him urinate, and round-the-clock monitoring. The team had initially planned to operate, but an unexpected bout of colitis and his fragile state made this procedure too risky. Instead, under the close supervision of our equine vet, Calin, a week-long course of fluids, painkillers, and antibiotics was begun.
After many days of worry and continuous care, Victor has made a good recovery and is now safely back in his paddock. He was greeted with joy by everyone at the shelter.
Victor came to us as a five-month-old foal, rescued from severe neglect. Over the years, he has become part of our family, loved by all and deeply attached to his companions. We are profoundly grateful to have him back with us at Footprints of Joy.
His recovery was only possible thanks to your generosity. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of a compassionate community that is always ready to make a difference for the animals that need us most.
