Banana: the journey from her rescue to her adoptive home
Story of the monthBanana was brought to our clinic in a critical condition and in urgent need of veterinary care. She had been spotted roaming alone in a very neglected neighborhood by a compassionate passer-by, who recognized the seriousness of the situation and decided to bring her to us.
On arrival, Banana was clearly in pain and had a noticeable swelling on the left side of her abdomen, so our veterinary team intervened immediately. Thankfully, the problem was not life-threatening, and prompt treatment meant that she was soon stable and could slowly start rebuilding her strength day by day.
Throughout her stay with us, Banana proved to be an affectionate and sociable dog. Once her veterinary treatment and adoption preparation program had been completed, she travelled to Switzerland, where she was welcomed by our partner organization SPAB Bellinzona, who helped to find her permanent adoptive family.
We are deeply grateful to the SPAB Bellinzona team and to all our partners who make responsible and ethical adoptions possible, giving rescued animals the secure future they deserve.
Banana’s story underlines the importance of an effective network built on reporting, rapid intervention, and international cooperation. It also reflects the value of the daily educational and outreach work carried out in the Cernavodă area, where our shelter Footprints of Joy operates. This constant commitment helps foster long-term cultural change, promoting a more responsible and respectful attitude towards animals in need.
