Aron, one step at a time towards a new life

Aron is less than a year old and has spent much of his life in a shelter. When we met him at the public shelter in Constanța, Romania, he was living in an overcrowded kennel with dozens of other dogs and very little room to move around.

During the initial assessment, he was gentle but very frightened. He had probably never left the kennel or walked on grass before. We decided to take him in together with Kai, another dog living in the same kennel, who is probably his brother.

The first few weeks were not easy. After their veterinary quarantine, both dogs struggled to leave the room where they had been staying and to trust people. We gave them time and space, without forcing them, and organised activities in the enclosed exercise area to help them become familiar with their new surroundings.

Little by little, Aron began to overcome some of his fears. We managed to put a harness on him and take him to the park. During walks, he was still cautious as he observed his surroundings, but he was beginning to explore through scent, rolling around on the grass and playing.

In early October, he reached an important milestone: his first walk alone with one of our canine educators. This experience is helping him become more independent and discover the world without Kai by his side.

Today, Aron is more relaxed, but he still needs support to face the many new experiences that lie ahead with confidence. We are looking for a family who understands his needs, is willing to respect his pace and can patiently guide him as he discovers his new life.
