While many people are preparing to go on their summer holidays, our Street Unit will continue to be out on the streets of Milan, supporting people experiencing severe social exclusion, along with their pets.
Every week, we provide pet food, free veterinary care and practical assistance for dogs and cats whose companionship offers an essential source of comfort to people living in extremely vulnerable circumstances.
In recent years, we have seen a steady increase in requests for food support. We are meeting more and more people who simply cannot afford enough food for their animals because of economic hardship. As a result, distributing pet food has become an essential part of our outreach work.
Since the beginning of the year, we have already distributed more than two tons of cat and dog food, helping to ensure the continued care and wellbeing of the animals supported by the project.
Our Street Outreach Unit will remain active throughout July and August, but to continue meeting the needs of the people and animals we support, it is essential that we maintain a steady supply of food supplies.
