Lou Rescued: A Young Pit Bull Cross
Lou is a young pit bull cross whom we had been monitoring for several months in Romania. She was kept on a chain, without access to water and in extremely poor hygienic conditions.
We had tried to improve her living conditions by talking to her owner and asking him to lengthen the chain, provide an enclosure and ensure she had access to water. Our efforts did not lead to any tangible results, so we requested the intervention of the National Police.
There were also concerns that Lou’s puppies might be bred or used in dogfighting. Given the seriousness of the situation and the owner’s lack of cooperation, we felt it was necessary to involve the authorities.
The National Police acted promptly, confiscating Lou and fining her owner approximately €300, the minimum penalty provided by the law. The fine also took into account the cooperation provided during the intervention.
Lou is now safe at Footprints of Joy. She is a very sweet dog, despite the conditions she has endured. A new chapter now begins for her, in a safe environment, far from the chain and neglect.
