In memory of Stefania

When a memory becomes an act of generosity

The people we love live on in so many ways – in our memories, in photographs, in the little habits that remind us of them. And sometimes, their memory can inspire something tangible, allowing the things they cared about to continue making a difference after they are gone.

That is what happened with the fundraiser set up by Danila in memory of her aunt Stefania, who recently passed away. At a time of great sadness, Danila found a special way to honor her aunt’s memory. She invited friends and family to make a donation to the Save the Dogs Foundation, helping animals in need receive the care and protection they need to begin a new chapter in their lives.

It was a choice that reflected something very important about Stefania herself.

Animals had always held a special place in Danila’s aunt’s heart. Over the years, she had opened her home to several dogs in need, caring for them with extraordinary dedication. Supporting other animals in her name therefore became a way of keeping alive something that said so much about who Stefania was.

In this way, her memory has become a source of practical help for many animals.

A special way to remember someone

When we lose someone we love, it is not always easy to find the words or the right way to express what we are feeling. A memorial fundraiser offers friends and family a way to come together, share their memories, and turn their love for someone into practical support for a cause that mattered to them.

Each donation therefore becomes both a tribute to that person and a way of continuing to support the things they cared deeply about. In Stefania’s case, many people chose to take part in Danila’s fundraiser. Each contributed in their own way, but all were united by the same desire to remember Stefania by doing something positive in her name.

Continuing to make a difference

A memorial fundraiser cannot fill the absence left by someone we have lost, but it can help something they cared deeply about live on and continue to make a difference. For animals, this means receiving the care and support they need to live happy, healthy lives with the dignity they deserve.

Stefania’s story is a beautiful reminder that the good a person does during their lifetime can live on through those who keep their memory alive. And perhaps one of the most meaningful ways to show how much we miss someone is to continue supporting a cause that meant so much to them during their lifetime.

Do something practical to remember them by

If you would like to honor someone special by making a difference, you can set up a fundraiser in their memory and invite friends and family to take part. A simple act of giving, shared with the people who loved them, can transform a memory into meaningful support for animals in need.

Let their memory make a difference, for animals today and for years to come.

PERSONAL ACCOUNT FROM DANILA, STEFANIA’S NIECE, WHO SET UP THE FUNDRAISER:

“’When someone we love dies, they leave an empty space behind’. We have all heard those words countless times. They can almost sound like a cliché, until we experience loss ourselves and suddenly understand just how real they are. It is a strange, persistent emptiness that you feel in your mind and in the pit of your stomach whenever everything goes quiet for a moment. What used to fill that space? The presence of someone who mattered to us. All the little things, all the moments we shared with someone who is no longer here. And yet there are ways of feeling close to them again for a moment, of remembering and sharing memories of the time we had with them. Thanks to the Save the Dogs Foundation, my family was able to share one more moment with Stefania – with her smile and with the love she had always had for animals. We set up a fundraiser in her memory because we knew exactly what she would have chosen if given the choice between a bouquet of flowers and a photograph of a happy dog. We are deeply grateful to everyone at the Foundation who supported us with such warmth throughout the entire process. At every stage of the fundraiser, we felt that someone was there beside us – thoughtful, sensitive, and ready to answer any questions and make sure that our wishes were fulfilled in the best possible way.”
