The first spayaton organized by Save the Dogs this year and dedicated in particular to owned animals from the cities of Cernavoda, Medgidia and neighbouring villages ended on April 20.

The operations were performed by four fantastic vets from the Romanian association Transylvania Animal Care, under the assistance of our staff. The vets travelled for 600 km to reach our clinic to spay and neuter 39 dogs and 65 cats in five days of activity.

The involvement of the association TAC is linked to the very serious lack of local vets, a problem that affects all Romania and that pushes us more and more to call doctors from abroad or from other regions of the country.

This is the main reason why we suspended the activity of the mobile clinic for this year and we were forced to find other ways to keep the number of sterilizations high.

The spayaton that has just ended is only the first of a series that we intend to carry on throughout the summer. The success of the subsequent editions will however be conditioned by the donation trend. While the sterilizations of cats in 2018 are entirely sponsored by Susy Utzinger Stiftung für Tierschutz foundation, the cost for the sterilization of dogs is entirely at our expense. We hope to find the necessary resources to continue to guarantee what is undoubtedly the most important activity of our intervention in Romania.
