The first 13 dogs from Constanța are out of danger

At last, we have received the news we have been waiting to hear from our Footprints of Joy shelter: the first 13 dogs rescued from Constanza’s public shelter are now out of danger. The next stage of their journey will begin with our dog trainers, who will work with each of them to prepare them for the ultimate goal: finding a loving family to take care of them.

In the meantime, our team is already preparing to return in September to save more dogs from the appalling conditions they find themselves in, if the conditions at our centre allow it. Alongside this mission to save more dogs, we are also working with other Romanian organizations at an institutional level. We have called on the Mayor of Constanza to take decisive action to reform both the management of the public shelter and the city’s approach to its stray dog population. Without lasting, structural change, saving individual dogs can never resolve the underlying problem.
